2014 FAMILY FLOAT TRIP
Pardon the date on the pictures (most are Judy’s) and as one of our close family friends, Roger, pointed out, Judy’s camera needs its clock set. The pictures were taken July 2014. Enjoy–I just figured out how to do the slide show.
Sixty-six of us attended our 25th Annual Mitchell Family Float trip at Niangua River Oasis July 8-11. Mo and Ruth were the first arrivals on Monday followed by Rick and Jeanne. By Tuesday night the Shipleys, John Altic, Allen & family, Wayne & Pam, Grandpa and Grandma Sweetie, Mike and Christina and family were filling up the pavilion. The river was very low and most of the children could wade across. We shopped Lebanon on Wednesday and Jessica got some good finds. Uncle Bill, Terry, Joe, Jon, David all played golf. The Thompson clan stayed at Sand Sprigs Resort but everyone else camped or cabin-ed with NRO. Rick fixed a meat salad from his cooked rabbit; the cream can supper fed us on Wednesday; and Mo fixed us taco salad with all the trimmings on Thursday night. We enjoyed Nita’s brownies without Nita as she was being grandma for their new arrival. Rosario joined us Thursday evening. It was great to see her back up and going after her double hip replacement surgery in March. Forty-seven of us and 3 dogs went down the river at 10 AM Thursday. We took 9 rafts, 3 canoes and a kayak starting at Bennett Springs and floating down river. Rick & Jeanne and a few more decided at NRO they were done; but most went on down the river past NRO and floated to the rendezvous point. The weather was perfect, and everyone had a safe float. It was a great finale? Maybe?
