Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa Sweetie’s

Fifty-three of us shared in the blessings of being together Christmas Eve with the Sweeties.  Four of us five kids were there as was all the in-laws.  Linda had the flu and was under doctor’s orders to stay at home.  All the rest of her and David’s family, 3 sons, wives, and grandchildren were there as was Sarah’s parents from Fort Scott, KS.  Jeanne & Rick had 3 of their children and 7 of the grandchildren with them.  And Wayne had all his family with the exception of Tina and Rachelle.  Andy got Michelle’s phone and managed to “involve Tina” in part of the evening’s entertainment, though.  Donna and Steve’s families were all involved with other sides of their families and their military family is overseas–we did enjoy their facebook posts though.  Kathy’s family traveled in three cars due to all the different working schedules and the “I can go now!,” demands.  It made for a long departure though as those who were not ready to go home could make a longer evening of it  Allen’s family also made it in stages as they, too, had other parties to attend.  Waylon and Mike came, then Allen and Wyatt and finally we saw Melissa and Kaci.  It was a marvelous blessing to have Mo, Ruth and Tommy come by early in the evening.  With Mo on cancer treatments, he had been wisely cautioned about crowds, germs, and flu season; so they visited only briefly–but how wonderful it was to see him looking so well.  And Tommy got to visit with an alumni of the school he plans to attend so it was a blessing all the way around.  Kevin said both our meal blessing and the prayer we all have for Mo’s treatments to be successful.  It was a great evening and well worth getting home at 2:30 AM.  As Ruth commented, we are all so very, very blessed!
